Location, location, location! The Mount Royal Apartments are situated in one of the best locations in eastern Duluth. You can walk to several of Duluth’s finest restaurants. Located directly on the bus line and walking distance to St. Luke’s Clinic and less than a block to the Mt. Royal Shopping Center which features Duluth’s most upscale grocery store, Post Office, banks, public library and a dental office.
Many Residents at the Mount Royal Apartments enjoy the local amenities such as the stimulating University for Seniors program at the University of Minnesota Duluth, which they can walk to.
Downtown Duluth is less than ten minutes away by car or bus. Lester Park Golf Course, Northland CC and Ridgeview CC are close by. Access to the Tischer Creek and its scenic trails is just a few blocks away. The walking paths and cross country ski trails of the Hartley Nature Preserve is likewise accessible by foot. From a location point of view, there simply is no finer area to live than this Mount Royal location!
Mount Royal Apartments are relatively new. Phase One (15 Elizabeth Street) was built in 2000 and Phase Two (11 Elizabeth Street) in 2005. There’s a nice balance of spacious one and two bedrooms amongst the overall 39 apartments. For those who are seeking less space at a very affordable price, there are even a few studio styled one bedroom apartments. We also have private detached garages with garage door openers and most of the apartments also have good sized storage closets. A nice feature of our newest building is each apartment has either a patio or deck.
There are modern corridors which are wide and well lit, comfortable entry sitting areas and a spacious “community” room in 11 Elizabeth Street, where residents can get together to socialize. For full accessibility, 11 Elizabeth Street has an elevator to access all three levels. 15 Elizabeth Street consists of two floors with accessibility to the second floor via a large central staircase. Both buildings have a laundry floor on each floor.
The grounds and shrubs are professionally maintained with the entry areas accented by fragrant sprays of potted plants.

The Mount Royal Apartments is not a 55 and Over rental community, as some apartments are. There are a variety of ages amongst our Residents although long-term residency has been most common. There is some graduate student rental, however, we require that if a student wishes to lease an apartment they must be over 21 years of age. Please see Application Process for additional requirements.
